So we had to fly with our two-year-old and it was going to require a transfer in each direction. I looked at more expensive systems, thinking they would be the only thing that would work. On a whim I decided to try the Traveling Toddler, thinking that if it didn't work when it got to the house, I wasn't out much money. Yes, it looks unimpressive when it shows up and you'll kick yourself for not thinking of it first. We used it with an American Tourister carry-on and the Britax Marathon (circa 2006). It was wonderful! Our son weighed about 30 pounds at the time and we were able to still push him through the airport while seated in the seat attached to the suitcase. It came off very easily for security and stowed away nicely when not in use.
